Church Divinity School of the Pacific, founded in 1893, is an independent seminary, serving The Episcopal Church and providing graduate degrees and certificates for laity and clergy.

It is a founding member of the ecumenical and inter-religious Graduate Theological Union, with whom it shares some academic and administrative functions.

It is an accredited seminary of The Episcopal Church and is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools.

It receives no financial support from the Church. It relies on the generosity of individuals and clergy, and individual parishes and dioceses to support its academic programs, as well as tuition and fees.

It is governed by a Board of Trustees

The President and Dean reports to the Board of Trustees. The faculty and staff report to the President and Dean.
